I can’t tell you the last time I was greeted IMMEDIATELY after walking into a vineyard… 9 times out of 10, vineyards can be on the snobby side but– even though Stone Tower COULD potentially have its nose in the air, every single staff member we encountered was nothing short of welcoming, informative, and just plain friendly. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a friendly tasting room employee who told us that we could go downstairs to do a tasting since the bar upstairs was full.

My first impression after we parked was, «wow, this place is massive!» To the far left, there is a barn that I believe is for special events (read: the prettiest weddings ever, I’m sure), then another building, and to the right is the building that we entered. I think one of the best aspects of this winery– even having only visited once so far– is the fact that they have the necessary infrastructure to hold a mass number of visitors, read: several tasting counters, something that many vineyards lack which creates much frustration and the feeling of being rushed. (Their basement hallway that is lined with barrels reminds me of a winery one might find in Napa Valley– perhaps at Schramsberg, one of my personal favorites).

Stone Tower is hands down the swankiest (and definitely biggest) vineyard I have been to in Virginia. It was a gorgeous winter day (and we witnessed the most stunning sunset as we were finishing our wine!), which served as the perfect backdrop for this already jaw-droppingly beautiful winery. Oh, Stone Tower, where do I begin?! *swoon* After hearing several rave reviews through the grapevine (ha!) and from one of my dear, fellow wine-loving friends, I ended up here over the weekend with one of my best friends and her husband.
